This course is essential for therapists seeking to address deeper tissue restrictions, improve client outcomes, and expand their therapeutic toolkit. Invest in your skills and transform your practice!

Course Content

  • Muscle Energy Techniques (METs): Understand the neurophysiological principles of Post-Isometric Relaxation (PIR) and Reciprocal Inhibition (RI). Learn precise application of PIR for lengthening hypertonic muscles and restoring range of motion, and effective use of RI to relax target muscles via antagonists. Develop skills in assessing and applying METs appropriately for various musculoskeletal imbalances.

  • Pin and Stretch: Explore the impact of fascial restrictions on movement and pain. Learn effective tissue anchoring through precise pinning techniques and the art of combining pinning with dynamic stretching to release deep fascia and improve tissue glide. Discover strategic ways to integrate Pin and Stretch into your massage routines.

  • Cross Fibre Frictions: Understand the physiological effects of breaking down adhesions, stimulating healing, and realigning tissue fibres. Learn correct hand positioning, pressure modulation, and rhythm for effective application on tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Determine appropriate indications and contraindications for safe and beneficial use.

  • Trigger Point Therapy: Gain a deeper understanding of the formation, referral patterns, and perpetuating factors of myofascial trigger points. Refine your palpation skills for accurate location and assessment. Learn a range of advanced release methods beyond sustained pressure, including ischaemic compression with movement and stripping techniques, and how to seamlessly integrate trigger point work into your treatments.

  • Myofascial Release: Explore the interconnectedness of fascia and its impact on pain and movement. Learn various direct and indirect hands-on techniques for addressing global fascial restrictions. Discover how to effectively blend myofascial techniques with other massage modalities for comprehensive client care.

  • Integrating Advanced Techniques: This section covers practical strategies and considerations for safely and effectively incorporating these advanced techniques into your existing massage protocols.
