This is a 1x day Pregnancy & Postnatal CPD course, designed with the therapist in mind.

Course Summary

Pregnancy and the postpartum period bring major physical and hormonal changes to the body. As a result, manual therapists need a specialist understanding of how to assess, support, and treat clients safely and effectively throughout every stage of the motherhood journey. Therefore, having the right knowledge and practical skills is essential when working with pregnant and postnatal clients.

This intensive 1 day course helps bridge the gap between clinical theory and hands on practice. Throughout the course, you will explore the “Motherhood Transition” in depth while developing the confidence to work with pregnant and postnatal clients in a clinical setting. In addition, you will gain a clearer understanding of how pregnancy and postpartum recovery can affect movement, posture, stability, and rehabilitation.

Furthermore, you will learn how to identify, assess, and manage common musculoskeletal presentations linked to pregnancy and postpartum recovery. At the same time, the course will guide you through safe and effective exercise prescription, lifestyle advice, and practical treatment approaches that you can apply straight away within your own practice. Moreover, you will explore ways to adapt treatments and exercise programmes to better support the changing body during pregnancy and after birth.

By the end of the day, you will feel more confident supporting clients through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the physical demands of motherhood with evidence based care. As a result, you will leave with practical skills, greater clinical confidence, and approaches that can be implemented immediately within your treatments, rehabilitation sessions, or coaching programmes.

What You Will Master

1. Biomechanical and Postural Changes

Understand how pregnancy changes the body from the first trimester through to the “fourth trimester”. Throughout the course, you will explore how shifts in posture and centre of gravity affect movement, stability, and the kinetic chain. In addition, you will learn how these changes influence pain, mobility, and daily function.

2. Advanced MSK Assessment and Management

Learn how to confidently assess and manage common pregnancy related musculoskeletal conditions. As a result, you will feel more confident supporting clients safely and effectively throughout pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

You will cover:

• Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP)
Learn evidence based assessment methods and stabilisation strategies to help reduce pain and improve movement.

• Diastasis Recti (DRAM)
Develop a deeper understanding of fascial tension, abdominal healing, and safe core modifications during recovery.

• Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Recognise the signs of pelvic floor stress, hypertonicity, weakness, and birth related trauma.

3. Integrated Pelvic Health

Demystify the pelvic floor and understand its role during pregnancy, birth, and recovery. Furthermore, you will learn how to combine pelvic floor and core rehabilitation within wider fitness, treatment, and recovery programmes.

4. Exercise Prescription and Adaptation

Move beyond outdated advice and gain practical tools you can use immediately. Throughout the course, you will learn safe and effective exercise options for every stage of pregnancy and postnatal recovery. In addition, you will explore how to modify movement patterns and training loads to support the changing body without adding unnecessary strain.

5. Clinical Red Flags and Referrals

Know when a client presentation falls outside your scope of practice. You will learn how to identify key risk factors, recognise important warning signs, and understand when referral to a pelvic health physiotherapist or medical professional is appropriate.
