• A distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care
This QA qualification is:
• For people who deal with first aid at work enabling them to be emergency first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
• Based on the Health and Safety Executive training standard for delivery of Emergency First Aid at Work courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
This qualification enables Learners to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations.
Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of first aider.
Objective:
The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by preparing them to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations and/or take on the role of emergency first aider in the workplace. Intended audience:
This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide help to people in a range of emergency first aid situations.
Course Structure;
This qualification contains 1 mandatory unit.
Learners must complete all assessments in the unit successfully within the registration period to achieve the qualification.
Course Assessment;
Practical assessments – observed by the Trainer throughout the course:
There are 4 mandatory assessments for this qualification:
- CPR and safe use of an AED
- Choking casualty
- Unconscious casualty
- Wounds, bleeding and shock
Theory assessment is a multiple choice question paper
Please inform BTST of any individual learning needs as soon as possible so the trainer may assess the requirements and implement any adjustments where possible.
Please inform BTST if English is not your first language where it is felt you may require support where possible.
Photo ID must be provided by each participant on the day e.g. drivers licence or passport
Course Certification;
This course is ran and delivered by Smile Training
On successful completion of the qualification you will be awarded a certificate in Emergency First Aid at Work.
The qualification is valid for 3 years.
Entry requirements;
Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. There are no other formal entry requirements but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
Additional Information
What to bring;
- 2x large bath towels/sheets
- 1-2x Hand towels
- Pens and Paper (a course manual will be provided with note pages)
- Lunch
- Due to the practical nature of this course, Learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear
