Level 4 Sports Massage Courses

The Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy builds on your existing knowledge and skills gained from the level 3 Sports Massage course. This qualification will provide learners with a deeper knowledge and further skills to be able treat clients and correct common patterns of dysfunction.

Course Focus :

    •    Assessment skills 

    •    Learning of a range of injuries and dysfunctions

    •    Introduction and learning of some special tests.

    •    Development of massage techniques & skills 

    •    Patient aftercare advice along with corrective exercise    

          prescription knowledge

This Qualification Enables You To:

    •    Progression on to a Level 5 Sports Therapy Course

    •    Progression onto an Osteopathy or Physiotherapy

         course

How will I be assessed?

The assessment process includes the following;

– x3 Unit Worksheets

– x1 Assignment

– x7 Observations

– x2 Critical evaluation

Upon signing up onto the course you will receive a Learner Manual and Learner Achievement Portfolio (LAP)

Your LAP consists of all your assessment paperwork including your x3 unit questions.

Unit 1 Conducting subjective and objective assessment

Unit 1 Posture, injuries and dysfunction

Unit 3 Treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair

As part of Unit 2 Provide sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injury, you are required to complete an assignment where you are asked to design an informational resource to explain a range of soft tissue techniques which prevent and manage injury.

All guidance will be provided in your LAPs along with advice and guidance from your tutor during the course.

The observations are practical assessments and will take place throughout the course.

The observations include

Unit 1 Conducting subjective and objective assessment

– Summative observation – Palpation

– Summative observation – Client assessment (ankle or knee)

– Summative observation – Client assessment (hip)

– Summative observation – Client assessment (spine)

– Summative observation – Client assessment (shoulder)

– Summative observation – Client assessment (elbow or wrist)

Unit 2 Provide sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injury

– Modular summative observation

After each observation you are asked to complete a critical evaluation evaluating the effects of the techniques used during your five treatments.

This is to show your ability to be reflective and give opportunity to further your learning

Course Requirements:

You must have completed the Level 3 Sports Massage Qualification. You must be aged 18 or over and physically able to do the work and have good communication skills.
