How to sign up to the Fast Track route

If you believe you have a prior qualification that can be transferred please send us a copy of your qualifications to btstacademy@outlook.com

Once reviewed if your qualifications are transferrable, you will then be asked to sit a level 3 A&P multiple choice exam.

You will need to pass this exam in order to qualify for the Fast Track route.

Qualified for the Fast Track route;

If you have transferrable qualifications and you are successful in passing the pre A&P theory Examination you will qualify for the Fast Track route.

Differences between the Full Course and the Fast Track route;

On the Fast Track route
- you will not attend the theory side of the course
- you will still need to complete the unit questions found in the learner achievement portfolio
Once the unit questions have been completed and passed you will need to attend 6x practical days. These will be the last 6 days on any full course.
After the 6x practical days, you will be booked into the practical assessment day of the same course

The course is split into 5 units:

• Anatomy & Physiology for Sports Massage

• Principles of Exercise, Fitness & Health

• Soft Tissue Dysfunction

• Professional Practice

• Sports Massage Techniques

This Qualification Enables You To:

• Gain employment as a Sports Massage Therapist

• Gain insurance

• Set up your own business as a Sports Massage Therapist

• Progression on to the Level 4 Sports Massage Course

How will I be assessed?

The assessment process includes the following;

– 5 Unit questions

– 1 Assignment

– 50 question multiple choice Anatomy & Physiology exam

– Practical Maintenance exam

– Practical Pre Event exam

– Practical Post exam

Upon signing up onto the course you will receive a Learner Manual and a Learner Achievement Portfolio.

Your Learner Achievement Portfolio (LAP) consists of all your assessment paperwork including your x5 unit questions.

Unit 1 Anatomy & Physiology for Sports Massage

Unit 2 Principles of Exercise, Fitness & Health

Unit 3 Soft Tissue Dysfunction

Unit 4 Professional Practice

Unit 5 Sports Massage Techniques

Before the start of the course we ask learners to complete units 1&2 for submission on your first course day, the remaining units will be set as homework throughout the course dates.

As part of Unit 4 Professional Practice, you are required to complete an assignment on preparing for a new sports massage business

All guidance will be provided in your LAPs along with guidance and advise from your tutor during the course.

The Anatomy & Physiology exam is a x50 question multiple choice exam covering the following topics;

– The Skin

– The Skeletal System

– The Joints

– The Muscular System

– The Nervous System

– The Endocrine System

– The Cardiovascular System

– The Respiratory System

– The Lymphatic System

– The Digestive System

– The Urinary System

Part of the A&P studies will be covered during the course, the rest will be down to the learner to learn via home study. All information needed is supplied in the learner manuals, further help is available if needed by any learner.

The practical exams take place on the final day of the course

The Maintenance exam consists of; Case history taking, Client Assessment, Maintenance Massage Treatment and Evaluation. The assessment takes up to 1hour

The Pre & Post practical exams are performed back to back, consisting of; a short case history taking, a mini client assessment, Pre Massage Treatment, Post Massage Treatment and Evaluation. The assessment takes up to 1hour

As part of the course, there is an element of distance learning, this will be set once you sign up to, one of our BTST Academy Sports Massage courses.

You will be guided through the distance learning via an Active IQ learner pack, which will contain all the information you need. Alongside the learner pack, our BTST tutors are on hand to help and guide you where needed.

Within the learner pack are the 5x unit questions which will be set throughout the course, Units 1&2 will be set prior to the course to start your learning journey.

For those of you that have never done any Anatomy and Physiology this unit can be both in-depth and challenging at times, therefore completing unit 1 before you start, will help give you more time to explore and learn the subject helping you gain more from the course days.
